Visitor's Gold Nugget find

24th. May 1999 -- A prospector who is staying in our area for a few days brought a nugget which he had found earlier today into our shop to be weighed. The nugget weighed 17 pennyweights 12 grains and he said that he had found it in an area of rich red clay with no evidence of quartz The area of the find was in the local Dunolly district which had been worked many times before and the nugget was lying about 10 inches deep sitting in the clay.
