Prospectors find Gold specimen

10th. February 2000 -- Two local prospectors working together found the gold specimen shown above in the Maryborough goldfields. The area was in dense bush land and the nugget was found lying approximately 12 to 13 inches deep. The total weight of the specimen was 3 ounces 2 pennyweights while the gold content has been estimated at 2 ounces 5 pennyweights. The prospectors were using a SD2200D fitted with a Coiltek 24 inch "DD" searchcoil.
