Unusual find by local prospector

7th. July 2000 -- The copper nugget shown above is a most unusual find in this area and is in fact the first time we have ever heard of copper being found in the district. The finder a local prospector found the nugget in the Maryborough Goldfields region using a SD series detector. The nugget weighed 47grams or 1 ounce 12 pennyweights 10 grains troy. It was found in bushland among some whipstick not far from an old reef working and was lying approximately 6 inches to 8 inches deep.
