9th. November 2001 -- The larger gold nugget which weighed 3 ounces along with the smaller nuggets were found just outside of Dunolly in open bushland. The finder, a local prospector told us the finds were near some old diggings but in virgin ground at a depth of around 8 inches to 10 inches. The ground consisted of greyish brown topsoil mixed with quartz and ironstone over a red clay bottom. He has not finished working the area and hopes to find more.
