YBR,,,,,no wukkas, Vic does not appeal to me one bit, as bippin' patch, a holiday patch or a working patch.
Sale Gas Plant- Vic,,,, pissed down all week.
Geelong Docks, Vic,,,,,2 weeks, rained one way or another everyday
Yep,,,,I can see how you have plenty of water over there YBR.
Melbourne Airport,,,,plane late taking off EVERY time and never any trolleys. Mind you the only decent beer I could find was Melbourne Bitter.
Bassgas - unions wanna shut everything down before they even start work.
No wonder you guys come over here so much, looking for gold 'n looking fer work. Victoria - prick of a joint!
Nah, not fer me mate. The RAAF might have a need for Victoria though. Just needs a big "X" painting on it. |

Can you believe it?
The desalination plant is on it's way....no if's or buts .....it's on!
Contracted to "A French Company"
Over Budget before it even starts!
An eyesore in it's surroundings, not wanted by locals evidently!
Made a contribution to environment by burying power lines?
Operational Carbon Emmissions?........Carbon Neutral claims....Gonna plant some trees aren't we, claim offsets won't we!
Hey! Contractors already dudded by being involved with illegal "Logging" in the Amazon!!
Claims of billons of litres of water being produced....Yeah! will Tiny Tim Holding talk John Bummbly into pumping water "Back up the North /South Pipeline" to where it's needed most! Don't hold your breath!
Unbluddybelieveable!
Is Tim Holding related to that other Holding of past history.....does genetics come into the problem?
Hey Bilbo, if we can get certain of our State Wally's...Oops' Pollies to cross into WA.....Can you take the useless sods outback and lose 'em, please.

Yeah that's right, I'll take the gold from my divining rods and start looking for the water....
So many things are wrong with the situation of the water storages, rivers etc in this country.
Why does everyone get uptight about pipelines? The only thing I can see wrong with them is that they will save water compared to the open channel system and when it does rain like it used to, then there will be screams of Oh no what do we do with all of the water. Bloody cotton in oz! money does strange things.....
I thought there was a survey done in the late 60's early 70's which told us oz was over populated and we didn't have the water storage capacity then.

G'Day GoldstalkerGpx,
You're right, pipelines are well over due and making a huge difference where laid.
This little town is now supplied from water brought in by the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline and, compared to what we had previously, is unbelievably
good stuff. Most of the rubbish elements have been taken out and we don't find Yabbies in the meter filters anymore.
Still can't drink it, falls well below acceptable standards.
We are still on Stage4 restrictions and have been for so long I can't remember when they first came into force.
The one Pipeline that really P*****s's me off is the North /South Pipeline,
who was the brain that thought that they could syphon off water from a River / Region that was under more drought stress than Melbourne, and refuse to collect or recycle waste and storm water.....Oh sorry I forgot they are a fussy lot down there.
There are places in this world where recycled water is the principal source for human consumption and they don't seem to suffer from it.
As a plumber you should be better informed than most of us...got an opinion.....at least it may deflect from the East/West argybargy going on here.
Cheers Wheely.
(Still trying to work out which plumber left town, can only recall one who left his mark, on my building) |

Hi Wheely, Yes I understand the situation of your water there, it is a lower quality than most. (show me one that is worse in oz)
As far as recycling water, they do have reticulated systems in place in oz, BUT one that is not potable water of course.
Storage facilities should be a prime target of thought!!
As you stated some of the schemes that are dreamed up are exactly that imho. I won't elaberate any more than that.
I have been saying for 20 years that there should be a pipeline in your area, and finally!!! It will be a great asset and is a shame that I wasn't still in the area to have been privillaged to work on it.(was offered excavator work)
I have also said for the last 12 years or better that desal is the way to go, after setting up a small scale desal plant on a farm near Ararat, which is still being used to it's full capability.
I have not done work on your building, ask you daughter in-law she will know, she wanted to dig up all of my roses. LOL!!!
Cheers |

Just a point on the water debate that I believe that many of you may have missed.
About 0.5 to 0.6 of one percent of the worlds total water is suitable for agriculture or consumption.
As the worlds population increases the amount of potable water available to each and every one of us decreases which in the long term means that food is also going to be in short supply.
At the present time we are seeing climate change (drought) take hold in many parts of the world and this will in the next few years create monumental changes in the way we live.
At this point in time the Victorian Government is gung ho about getting the pipe finished so they can suck water to Melbourne where the votes are. In five years time there may be a different agenda when they find out that there is no more water in the north to take and city people are learning to drink recycled water that is being piped back from Werribee. |

G'Day YBR,
Heartily concur with your comments, heaping crap on pollies of any description has always been a national pastime, I don't agree with many of the things he is involved with but still respect him as a human being and his personal safety is paramount......hope he comes out O.K.
No EPIRB! That is what I find hard to understand, he is credited with being an experienced bushwalker, athlete, Ex Army reservist.......Yet he takes off alone in mongrel country at this time of the year?
He may be well equipped compared to some who walk that route but seems to have forgotten the fundamental......Buddy System the best back up available and costs nothing!!

Hey YBR,
They have FOUND HIM, seems to be O.K.
Now we can get back to rubbishing him again.
Rumour has it that when the Chopper crew winched him out they figured he wasn't big enough and wanted to throw him back..... a rapid change in legislation has altered the size to match him he's now a keeper.
Poor bugger now has a mighty earbashing coming from his GirlF

Hi Wheely.
There is some sort of conspiracy factor that some plane spotted him last night with some sort of head lamp his G/F got him for his birthday, the copper shut her up on the interview CH7 aired tonight.
Makes me wonder (no pun intended)
